Miller Family Sugar Cookie Cutouts

To my family, here's nothing more representative of holiday baking than decorated sugar cookies! These are the most tender, fluffy sugar cookie you'll ever have. The sour cream in this recipe creates a lightness that is a unique treat. I remember baking these as a child, and it's heartwarming to decorate the same recipe with my college-age kids.

With cream cheese frosting (and LOTS of sprinkles), these cookies are all you need for a complete cookie tray. Deliver liberally to neighbors and loved ones!

INGREDIENTS

Sift together and set aside:

- 4 c. flour (Gluten-Free: King Arthur GF flour works well)
- 1 t. baking soda
- 1 t. baking powder
- 3/4 t. salt
- 3/4 t. nutmeg (I use 1/4 t.)

Cream together:

- 1 c. butter  (Dairy Free: Earth Balance Buttery Sticks work well)
- 1-1/2 c. sugar
- 2 t vanilla

Then add and mix until fluffy:

- 2 eggs

Add dry ingredients and sour cream/egg to sugar mixture. Stir until blended.
